Ran is an anti slippery device to be used in case of need on snow-covered terrain. Excellent solution for the trekker and the trail runner on snow, icy trails, wet grass or simply hiking on steep, muddy terrain. It can be helpful for hunters and mountain photographers, and also for all those professionals who operate on snow covered or icy terrain: e.g. park rangers, woodsmen operators at ski resorts. Mountain Rescue Teams will appreciate its adaptability to shoes and boots without tools. Their strong points are: Its ability to adapt itself to different types of shoes, from those for trail running to those for trekking, thanks to the silicone band that requires no adjustment with screws, screwdrivers, or other tools; steel spikes with anti-corrosion treatment; a Velcro band to ensure stability on the foot once fitted. Delivered in a useful bag.

Used it to descend Gondogoro La after visiting the K2 base camp. It worked great on ice and loose rocks. It's not the easiest to put them on, but they are light and versatile.

Gravel quality. Claw length - approximately 1.5 cm The main thing when buying, is not to make a mistake with the size - otherwise the teeth on the toe of the ice grippers will be slightly closer to the center of the sole of the boot than necessary. I took size L for the Saloman mountain boots size 44 (foot size - 43) and was slightly wrong in size. Ice grippers are slightly smaller than necessary, with the front spikes slightly extending from the toe to the center. But then the chains do not sag and everything is tight. So, should be observed the following parameters: size S - for shoes of size 35-37; size M - 38-40; size L - 41-43; XL size - 44-47. The kit includes a small convenient case with a mesh hole, which allows ice grippers to dry quickly after use.

Grivel does a lot of things well as they have a reputation to uphold. As such, the RAN ice grippers/crampon hold onto ice and snow like tiger claws. The yellow rubber uppers hold the grippers on firmly. The included black band is overkill and is not needed. I’ve used these on my hiking shoes and hiking boots on iced-over trails, frozen rivers and rocks and along sections of the Everest Basecamp trek. These are too aggressive for sidewalks unless the ice and snow is quite thick. The build quality is excellent and the little sack included allows for air drying of the grippers after use. I would suggest the size range is for shoes and if you wear winter boots you may want to order one size up. I have 3 pairs in different sizes to outfit my family and friends who join me on the trails. Trekkin’s shipping department is excellent and always sends their product quickly and properly packed for overseas shipping. Everything I have ordered has always arrived in good order and within the specified timeframe. And I live in Canada. FYI- the shipping fee charged includes any import tariffs so you don’t get any nasty surprises along the way from customs.

The product is very accurate, the plastic parts seem very durable; I not yet tried l'ho for a walk (but note that they are only for walking, but not trekking mountaineering), but I think they are resistant. I wear a shoe 41 and took the L (according to the supplier table), at first glance may seem a bit big, in fact, fit in the front iron fork position above the tip of the shoe, not the board as in the manual but I'll try to short if this is a defect, or the actual fit.
