What is a motorcycle spark plug?

A motorcycle spark plug is a small but critical component of a motorcycle´s ignition system. It is responsible for igniting the air/fuel mixture in the engines combustion chamber, which powers the motorcycle.
This spark ignites the air fuel combination in the combustion section, generating an outburst that initiates the machine´s power stroke.

Fundamental measurements of a spark plug

Spark plugs come in a variety of sizes and heat ranges to suit different engines and operating conditions. It is important to use the correct type of spark plug for your motorcycle to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
If the spark plug is an incorrect diameter, it may not work in the combustion section and can damage the combustion section and the motorcycle’s interior parts.
The reach of the plug defines how distant the spark plug goes into the cylinder. It must be the proper length. Too short length won’t be sufficient; too lengthy can hit the inside valves.
The plug´s heat capacity is written on the side of it and is specified by the distance. A longer distance represents a hot plug; a shorter distance is a cold one. If the spark plug is too burning, it may induce pre ignition. A plug that is too cold, on the other side, doesnt serve for a long time. Choose the one that suits your needs.
The spark plug gap is the space between the middle electrode and the base electrode. The larger the gap, the greater the spark. However, more power is needed to create the spark when the distance is greater. A shorter distance will create a smaller spark and a less entire burn of the air fuel mix.
The brands that offer motorcycle spark plugs are UFO, Kuryakyn, Drag Specialties, and Ngk Spark Plugs.
